Advent Children’s Choir

About Us

Advent Children’s Choir (ACC) provides children from ages 5-16, the opportunity to learn more about singing beautiful music, regardless of background, economic status, or prior experience. Students are auditioned and placed into two ensembles that will foster growth as musicians by emphasizing artistic excellence and how to work together toward a unified sound. Rehearsals will include some of the elements of choral singing like proper breathing, head voice, and music reading.

The mission of ACC is to provide children in the community to use their voices to sing to the glory of God through beautifully arranged songs and hymns using proper vocal technique. Children can do this when they understand the lyrics and the backstory of each song.

Bel Canto Beginners (ages 5-8) will improve their unison singing and begin to sing two-part and three-part songs. Their basic choral singing techniques will develop throughout the year with an introduction to note reading and vocalizations.
Bel Canto Chorus (ages 9-16) should understand basic elements of choral singing such as songs requiring two- or three-parts. Occasionally the group will sing in a different language as well as incorporating more theory into their learning. The repertoire for this group is more advanced in difficulty and the number of songs they are expected to perform.
